ABOUT

Franck Dumas

PHOTOGRAPHS IN MOTION

Franck uses a long exposure combined with a deliberate movement of the camera at the moment the picture is taken.

During this brief movement, light breaks apart, shapes dissolve and colours settle in successive touches. The image becomes more vibrant, more fluid, at times almost painterly.

The whole challenge lies in finding a fragile balance between exposure time, light, movement and composition.

From this encounter may arise the vibration of light, of the sea, of the wind or of reflections, but also a more inner vibration: that of a memory, a sensation or an emotion.

Once the technique is mastered, it can fade into the background. The eye is then free to leave the photographed reality and enter fully into the experience of the image.

Based in Port-en-Bessin - Huppain, facing the two lighthouses of the outer harbour, he opened La Goélette du Goéland gallery with Catherine Clemenceau. It was inaugurated in July 2026 with the exhibition Impression’s n°1: Vibrations / Entre-vu.
